The article by Lev Manovich was very interesting. Mostly because I agreed and understood exactly what he was talking about when he described the drastic shift in certain technologies such as cell phones and computer design. I am at an age that remembers the time when these innovations became started to become increasingly popular. I remember the old cell phone by parents use to have to be a big plastic block. To look at it now would make me laugh. Its amazing that in such a short amount of time they were able to condense so much information into the sleek and advanced phones that they have now. Phones serve multi-purposes now. You can text, call, surf the web, take pictures, listen to music and play games. This is what Manovich was referring to when he said that phones serve more for entertainment then for a means to and end. The interaction in the process of getting to communicate with another is an experience on its own.
Reading over the OS X portion was very entertaining at all because as a Mac User I was immediately drawn to the beautiful design of the computer and the interface of the operating system. Its beauty appealed to and stimulated my senses just like Manovich said. I fell in love with Apple products not just because they were extremely efficient but because they were aestheticly pleasing as well.
